I am a quiet person who prefers to let others do the talking. I imagine there will come a time where my uniqueness will be necessary for something important.

I have a Master’s degree in Marine Biology (concentration in Biological Oceanography) and a Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences (concentration in human anatomy and physiology). I finally got to use that degree as an oceanographic research technician in Bermuda. My previous work in an environmental sciences laboratory has dealt with flow cytometry, phytoplankton study, and water chemistry analysis (and I was the lab IT guy). If you know anyone who can use someone with an interest in all sciences and an aptitude with technology, ask me for a CV.

I’m working with Travel Channel’s online community team and spent time checking out “One City at a Time” to make sure it was appropriate for us to start a conversation with you.

Yes, we are trying to get the word out about Samantha Brown’s premier of her new show “Passport to Great Weekends” which airs tonight (10pm EST).

It’s a new show format with Sam focusing on great weekend vacations, uncovering low cost activities, off-the-beaten path ideas and insights into what locals do for fun. A majority of the shows focus on classic American cities like Las Vegas, Austin, San Francisco and Miami.

We’ve worked with iTunes to provide a free iTunes download of the entire Las Vegas show starting this Friday that is open through July 11 for those not necessarily interested in adjusting their TV viewing schedule to look at something new.

You can actually get a quick take on what “Sam” is about by her newly uploaded YouTube videos at: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=8BCDB20B66FF99F0
or get more of the packaged e-kit at: http://www.media.travelchannel.com/ekit/greatweekends/HTML/press.html

As we are putting more online community platforms in place we would love your feedback. You can post to Sam’s blog, or join in the conversation on Twitter, or send us an email.

On a more personal note, I hope this email is not offensive to you. I maintain my own personal blog, and am familiar with the annoyance of spammy messaging. If you have ideas on how Travel Channel or Samantha Brown might be able to promote your blog or better contribute to your interests – please be sure to let me know.

    With Appreciation,

    Emma Sefton
