Hungry hungry Panamanian raccoon

Last time, you saw a raccoon that gets fed on a regular schedule, and perhaps more than it needs. How American is that? Let’s take a look at a raccoon somewhere else. Here we have a raccoon (I don’t know what species) that wanders around the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, on the Amador Causeway in Panama City, Panama (see it pass quickly by on the right at 2:40 of my video). The raccoon looks considerably skinnier than its American counterpart.

Bonus second photo! I’m not sure how safe this is, as it is a wild creature, even though it is likely also somewhat comfortable around humans, and getting the occasional bite of food.
